Some listicles claim to have found “the best” of something, and then go on to just name every single thing in that category. We scanned the Yelp trenches, the Reddit threads, the food blogs, and roughly four hundred Instagram reels of tortillas being sliced in half in slow motion, so you don't have to. Here are the six that locals keep coming back to: three per city, no participation trophies.

The peninsula's 6 a.m. workhorse, parked right on the boardwalk by the pier. The Boardwalk Burrito keeps it classic—bacon, egg and avocado, big enough to require a game plan—while the Sweatpants (steak and peppers) and Anchor (beef chorizo, crispy hash browns) have their own devoted factions. Yelpers come for the burrito; locals come to eat it on the sand while the tourists are still asleep.

The Wakey Wakey stuffs scrambled eggs, hash browns, mozzarella and guac (plus your pick of bacon, sausage, chorizo or turkey) into a grilled tortilla, and that crunch is the detail reviewers can't stop mentioning. Directly across PCH from the sand, which makes it dangerously convenient after a morning surf. Also highly rated for their sandwiches and pizza, this spot is an all day go-to.

Cannery Village's living room, where the servers know the regulars by name and the regulars know to order the Surfer's Burrito: a glorious mess of eggs, cheese, potatoes, bacon and a homemade enchilada sauce that does the heavy lifting. It's served all day, it's big enough to split (you won't).

"Underground since 2005" and hiding behind The CAMP, Rooster draws its crowds almost entirely on the strength of its breakfast burrito: a dense, egg-forward brick loaded with crunchy hash browns that 2,000+ Yelp reviews keep crowning "the best breakfast burrito in the area." The Saturday line agrees.

The Eastside's favorite double act: a legit coffee program and burritos your feed has definitely seen. The Bacon & Friends is the order—and if someone at your table gets the "pacos" (pancake tacos, yes, exactly what they sound like), all the better. Fair warning from the regulars: made to order, and worth the wait.

The brightly painted 19th Street landmark that's been packed for nearly three decades. The chorizo breakfast burrito—delicately scrambled eggs, chorizo, potatoes and beans, wrapped Mexican-style—comes with a salsa bar that turns one burrito into six different breakfasts.
