Sandoitchi Coming for Costa Mesa
Sando-what now?

Hello Back Bay barnacles, happy Monday.
We aren’t going to lie: there isn’t much happening this week. We hope you don’t have to fly anywhere. We would like to thank all veterans for all they have done and continue to do for our great Nation 🇺🇸 . We are entering the mid November fog that can only be burned off by the rapid and merciless realization that 2026 is only 7 weeks away. Now is the time to lock in your Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving plans, finish the gift lists, and perhaps splurge on a real umbrella.
To our new readers—welcome! The Back Bay Buzz delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

Sandoitchi Is Landing In Costa Mesa

Its like a sandwich, only milkier…
The cult-favorite Japanese sando shop is opening its second brick-and-mortar at 562 W. 19th St. (1,800 sq. ft., planned hours 7am–7pm). Born in Dallas in 2020, Sandoitchi built a national following with pop-ups—think Coachella cameos and long lines—before choosing OC as a “second home.” County health records show plans are approved for construction, with an opening targeted for Q1 2026. Expect the signature milk-bread sandos and a tight, grab-and-go vibe.
