Hello Back Bay Buzzers, happy Tuesday.
We would like to commend the young man who jumped into the bay to save a small dog that had made its way into the water on Friday, you are the real MVP. Thank you for your patience as today’s edition of the Buzz comes a day late due to the Father’s Day celebration on Sunday.
To our new readers—welcome! The Back Bay Buzz delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

PSA: Baker St & Randolph Ave Road Construction Delayed
If you've been rerouting around the Baker Street and Randolph Avenue intersection, you'll need to keep doing it a little longer. The City of Costa Mesa announced on June 11 that Mesa Water District construction work was underway at the intersection, with a road closure going into effect. But a construction update posted yesterday, June 22, confirms the project has hit a snag: below-ground soil conditions have delayed the work, and traffic control measures — including the road closure on Randolph — are now expected to remain in place through the end of the week.
